Summer Internship – Processing Plant (Arcadia, WI)

Position Summary

 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: The Summer Intern will participate in cross functional projects under the guidance of a designated mentor in an effort to prepare Interns for entering the poultry industry. Interns will be involved in cross training activities to develop their vision and understanding of corporate and processing procedures and goals. This position is designed to expose students to real-world experiences and learning in their field of study.

  1. Observe & enforce all company personnel, quality, safety, and food safety policies.
  2. Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner so that you work effectively and cooperatively with customers, clients, coworkers, and leadership teams.
  3. Participates in process improvement and problem solving utilizing continuous improvement and rational thinking methodologies such as Six Sigma, and participates in or supports the E$P program.
  4. Recognizes and acts on incidents and safety risks. Consistently practices, and enforces safety work habits and drives those habits throughout the organization.

Essential Duties

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

  1. Participation in projects as designed by mentor to increase understanding of company operations and corporate processes or to improve process or procedures. May involve team participation and exposure to areas outside of the processing or live operations environment.
  2. Participates in process improvement and problem solving utilizing continuous improvement and rational thinking methodologies such as Six Sigma and Lean, and participates in or supports the E$P Program.
  3. Participates in educational opportunities such as seminars, GNP Leadership Training Program and other ongoing training events.
  4. Develop understanding of financial and cost accounting reports and how areas may impact numbers positively or negatively and provide solutions.
  5. Gain knowledge of processes and procedures throughout plant/live operations.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES:

  • Currently enrolled in a 4 year degree program. Agriculture, Economics, Food Science, Engineering or business Management is preferred.
  • Intermediate computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Work and Powerpoint.
  • Very good analytical skills.
  • Very good project management skills.
  • Very good communication (oral and written) skills.
